This is a call for nominations to fill the following seats on the FSM Board of Directors including:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • 4 Director Positions
  • 1 Asian/Pacific Representative
  • 1 European Representative

Duties of President

  • The President will work directly with the FSM Secretary or Business Office to perform and execute most of the daily duties and advance the mission, vision, and plan. Serve as a link to the community and promote the Association. The president must be prepared to act as the public face of the organization addressing issues with membership.
  • The President will identify and recruit individuals to serve as Committee Chairpersons and
  • Committee members and appoint committee chairs and Ad Hoc committees as needed.
  • Time Requirements: approximately 5 hours/ month

Duties of Vice President

  • Perform all the duties of President in the absence of the President or in the event of the President’s inability to serve. Be familiar with the responsibilities of the President, and functioning of the executive office.
  • Plan, oversee and manage the annual FSM conference in coordination with the Executive Secretary, Program Committee Chair and Local Arrangements (local members) Committee Members.
  • Time Requirements: approximately 5 hours/ month

Duties of Treasurer

  • The Treasurer will work directly with the FSM Secretary or Business Office to perform and oversee most of the daily duties. Oversee financial progress reports to share with the Board.
  • Time Requirements: approximately 5 hours/ month

Duties of Secretary

  • The Secretary will work directly with the FSM Business Office to perform and execute most of the daily duties, ie, newsletter, Annual conference correspondence.

Duties of Director(s)

  • Candidates must be willing to, at minimum, attend 1 face-to face board meeting per year (most likely in conjunction with FSM annual meeting), participate on Board conference calls (approximately bi-monthly) and participate with standing and ad hoc committees as requested by the President Candidates should also be willing to serve as an officer of the organization (officers are elected by the membership from the members of the Board)
  • Time Requirements: approximately 4 hours/ month


Duties of European Representative

  • Candidates must be willing to, at minimum, attend face-to-face board meeting per year (most likely in conjunction with FSM annual meeting), participate on Board conference calls (approximately bi-monthly) and participate with standing and ad hoc committees as requested by the President.
  • Candidate will represent the IAFSM and serve as an officer of the organization.

Duties of Asian/Pacific Representative

  • Candidates must be willing to, at minimum, attend face-to-face board meeting per year (most likely in conjunction with FSM annual meeting), participate on Board conference calls (approximately bi-monthly) and participate with standing and ad hoc committees as requested by the President.
  • Candidate will represent the IAFSM and serve as an officer of the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications of Nominees for President

  • Those nominated should meet all the Qualifications for Director
  • It is beneficial, but not necessarily required, for the Presidential nominee to have served on, or been a member of other like-minded associations in the field and retained contacts within the organization.
  • Wiling to communicate effectively with sponsors and potential recruits.

Qualifications of Nominees for Vice President

  • It is beneficial, but not necessarily required, for the Vice President nominee to have served on, or been a member of other like-minded associations in the field and retained contacts within the organization.
  • Have experience in writing reports for strategic planning and include suggestions on how to improve the association’s performance.

Qualifications of Nominees for Treasurer

  • The treasurer needs to be comfortable handling money and working with numbers. Although there are numerous software programs available to help with both budget development and bookkeeping, it is helpful to understand the basics.
  • Be willing to work with the Executive Secretary or Management Company in preparation of financial progress reports to share with the Board.
  • In addition, the organization encourages individuals with one or more of the following characteristics, which have been identified as critical skills/qualifications for Board members:
  • Familiarity with basic accounting practices
  • Knowledge of annual budgets and financial reports
  • Experience related to public relations and/or advocacy
  • Strong skills in business, marketing, and/or communications

Qualifications of Nominees for Secretary

  • The secretary will have experience with communicating the necessary events and information to members and Board members as it coincides with the Association.

Qualifications of Nominees for Director

  • Those nominated should have worked for at least 3 year(s) in the field of Forensic and Security Metrology and be an FSM member in good standing with the association.
  • All nominees should possess leadership ability, a high degree of personal and professional integrity, and the ability to recruit members to the organization and volunteers to support our activities.
  • In addition, the organization encourages individuals with one or more of the following characteristics, which have been identified as critical skills/qualifications for Board members:
  • Familiarity with fundraising
  • Experience related to public relations and/or advocacy
  • Strong skills in business, marketing, and/or communications
  • Knowledge of Conferences and Exhibits

Qualifications of Nominees for Asian/Pacific Representative

  • Those nominated should have worked for at least 3 year(s) in the field of Forensic and Security Metrology and be an FSM member in good standing with the Association.
  • Nominees should possess leadership ability, a high degree of personal and professional integrity, and the ability to recruit members and speak on behalf of the Association
  • Nominees must reside in the Asian/Pacific territory

Qualifications of Nominees for European Representative

  • Those nominated should have worked for at least 3 year(s) in the field of Forensic and Security Metrology and be an FSM member in good standing with the Association.
  • Nominees should possess leadership ability, a high degree of personal and professional integrity, and the ability to recruit members and speak on behalf of the Association
  • Nominees must reside in the European territory
